January 2014 Meeting Programs

January 2 - NO MEETING

January 9th - International Celebrations
Small group discussions on holidays in our varied countries: why they are celebrated, what is done, what is eaten, and anything else you would like to share. If you want, bring an article to show that typifies that holiday.
January 16th - Martin Luther King, Jr. and Civil Rights
January 20th is a National Holiday to remember and to celebrate Martin Luther King, the most well known leader of the Civil Rights Movement in the US. A speaker will focus on the movement and the important changes and new laws enacted at this time.

January 23rd - Indonesian Nationality Day
A member will illustrate many interesting and wonderful things about this nation of islands where 215 million people from more than 200 ethnic groups live today.

January 30th - Craft Sharing
We love doing crafts and this is the day for everyone to share their crafts. We will have tables set up so people can move from table to table to learn a new craft. Think about what you would like to demonstrate. In the past we have featured calligraphy, patchwork, knitting, crochet, origami, and vegetable sculpting.
